Funerals

We want to be there to support you in the difficult time of losing a loved one. Usually the funeral director will make the first contact with the church and then one of the ministry team will get in touch with you, but if you feel at any point that you need to talk please phone the Rural Dean Rev Catherine Dobson on  01692 650359

The minister taking the funeral service will help you to think about which hymns, music and readings might be included. For helpful information about Church of England funerals, try this website

The pain of bereavement can continue for a long time after the death of a loved one, or can suddenly return, especially at special times of the year. If at any point you feel that you need a listening ear, please do get in touch.

Many people find our annual All Souls Service helpful. This is held at 7.30pm on 2nd November each year, at St Mary's Church Stalham. During the service names are read out of those who have died during the year, and of those whose names people have requested to be remembered (folders are left in our churches in the week or two leading up to the service in which names can be written). There is also the opportunity to light a candle in memory of those we love but see no longer.

In St Mary's Stalham we have a Memorial Book which is turned each day. If you would like a name entered into the book, please contact us (as above) or use the contact form. There is no charge for entering a name although a donation is appreciated.
